A social media influencer with over 83,000 followers on Instagram was apprehended on Sunday in the Chitalwana area of Jalore, Rajasthan, on charges of possessing narcotics, according to police reports.
The police revealed that the suspect, known as Bhawari or Bhavika, was taken into custody at the Siwada police station while traveling on a state-run bus from Barmer to Gujarat with illegal substances in her possession. During a search of her belongings, authorities discovered over 150 grams of MD (Mephedrone), a substance prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Authorities suspect that the woman was en route to Gujarat to supply the drugs. Investigators believe that a larger trafficking network may be involved, and forensic science laboratories are being consulted to analyze the seized substances.
Jalore Superintendent of Police Gyan Chandra Yadav stated that they are interrogating her to uncover her involvement in drug trafficking and the geographical extent of her network. Police Deputy Superintendent Kamble Sharan Gopinath emphasized, “We consider this part of a larger operation. Our campaign against narcotics will be intensified.”
